Well well well, look who’s finally come crawling back. Me. That hiatus ended up being way longer than I’d intended or expected, and I abjectly apologize for killing the story momentum. A lot has happened since our last update, so allow me to give you the rundown:
The Good
The biggest change from my end is that, after more than two years of unemployment with sporadic freelance work, I have landed a full-time job, and therefore health care. However, while being able to see a dentist is great for me personally, it’s not all that great for the comic, which we’ll get into.
The Bad
Look—I was barely able to maintain a regular comic update schedule back when I was trapped in an apartment with nothing else to do. Now that I have a regular day job, my free time has shrunk dramatically. I had already announced that I was going to hire a colorist, in an effort to cut my turnaround times in half. That… did not happen.
So yeah, I was not able to hire a colorist. The bottom line is that colorists have bills to pay, and my page schedule is just too infrequent for any freelance collaborator to consider it worth their while. For now, the comic’s colors will continue to be handled by me. As a result, the comic will not be able to return to a weekly schedule as I’d hoped. The updates will have to remain fortnightly, to my everlasting shame.
The Unlikely
Oh hey, you know how sometimes, a European miniatures company contacts you to ask if you’ll license your fictional city designs to them, so they can mass-produce tiny dieselpunk buildings for tabletop gamers? No? Just me? Well… that is indeed a thing that happened.
